How Margin handles
your information.

Margin is an app for meat traders and brokers. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it and the choices you have.

We collect the information needed to run Margin:

• Your email address, to send you a one-time sign-in code.
• Voice notes you record, to turn them into text and find deals and contacts.
• Photos and files you add, such as business cards, screenshots, PDFs and product specs.
• The notes, deals and contacts created from what you add.
• A user ID, to keep your data tied to your account.
• If you use Margin on WhatsApp: your phone number, your WhatsApp ID and profile name, and the messages, voice notes, photos, files and contacts you send to Margin AI.

We do not collect your device location, health data, payment-card details, browsing or search history, device address book, or advertising identifiers.

We use your information to sign you in, turn notes and files into searchable deals and contacts, answer your questions and remind you what to follow up. We do not use your content to train general-purpose models or for advertising.

These providers help us run Margin and process information for us under contract:

• OpenAI processes the audio, images and text you add to create transcripts, extract deal details and make them searchable.
• Supabase provides our database, sign-in and file storage, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany.
• TypeSafe reads the text of your questions and notes to decide what they ask for and which records they concern.
• Postmark sends the team and group invitations you or your company send.
• Meta (WhatsApp) carries the messages between you and Margin AI when you use Margin on WhatsApp.

They process this information to provide their services to Margin, not for their own purposes.

Your notes, contacts and deals are private to your account. On Business, you can choose to share product information with a team or group; groups may include partners outside your company. You can also choose to show prices and company names. Your original notes, contacts and deals stay private.

We use row-level security to control access and HTTPS to encrypt data in transit. We keep your data while your account is active.

When you message Margin AI on WhatsApp, Margin saves what you send to your account the same way it saves what you add in the app. It replies only in your own chat with it. It never starts a conversation, never writes to your contacts and cannot read your other WhatsApp chats.

Your number is added to your account only after you show it is yours: by signing in with your email from that WhatsApp chat, or by sending the code the app gives you. You can remove it in your account settings at any time, and messages from it then stop reaching Margin. Deleting a note saved from WhatsApp also deletes the messages it was saved from. WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy apply to your use of WhatsApp.

On Enterprise, your company can connect its own systems, such as its ERP, CRM or accounting software, to Margin. When you ask a question on your company's desk, Margin may look the answer up in one of the tools your company allowed, and shows what the system returned beside your own answer, marked with the system's name. Nothing from it is added to your notes.

To do this, Margin sends your company's system a request made from your question. TypeSafe and OpenAI receive your question and the list of allowed tools to choose the tool, and OpenAI receives the system's reply to write the answer. They never receive your company's address or access key, which Margin keeps encrypted and uses only for these lookups.

For 90 days we keep a record of each lookup: who asked, which tool, whether it answered and how long it took. We do not keep the request or the reply.

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time. Email [email protected].

Deleting your account removes what you added from our active systems. If you held a seat on your company's desk, we keep your email address and the dates you held it, because they are your company's billing record. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR.

Margin is a business tool intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16.

We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page.
